Denmark

The Kingdom of Denmark is a constitutionally unitary state with a land area of Spanning a total area of 42,943 km2 (16,580 sq mi) and an estimated population of 5.9 million. Mobility management and Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans (SUMPs) are still fairly new concepts in Denmark. Since the 1990s there has been a strong focus within urban planning on traffic and environment, and a long tradition of citizen involvement in the planning processwhich supports the dissemination of SUMPs in Denmark. SUMPs are primarily prepared by traffic and city planners, while consultants contribute to elements like the analysis of the current situation, scenarios, and handle some of processes that involve citizens.

There are six cities that have published their Urban Mobility Plans online with a total population of 1.8 million people. The cities range in size from 66,656 people (Gladsaxe) to 1.2 million people (København). Four plans have been supported by EU funding but none have followed the EU SUMP Guidelines. All plans are in Danish and the København plan is also available in English. In addition, an Urban Mobility Plan has been prepared in 2019 for the Copenhagen Capital Region (population 1.9 million) and a copy of it is available here: Copenhagen Capital Region Traffic and Mobility Plan.
