Urban Mobility Plans

Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans (SUMPs) are planning instruments for cities that encourage joint decision-making across sectors and between stakeholders, for providing high quality, sustainable mobility. The SUMP concept was initially elaborated by the European Commission, and many support measures have been provided at European level, to help cities to transition to more sustainable transport solutions. This concept has expanded beyond Europe and there are now an estimated 51 countries and 912 cities with Urban Mobility Plans benefitting 473 million people. The following sections present databases which provide access to plans in Europe and elsewhere, selected examples of these plans, results achieved and examples of studies undertaken to prepare these plans.
