Greece

Greece is a unitary parliamentary republic comprising 13 regions subdivided into 332 municipalities. It has a land area of 131,957 km2 (50,949 sq mi) and a population of approximately 10.5 million. The growing interest in sustainable urban mobility planning has led to the establishment of a unit within the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport in 2017, which was dedicated to the development of SUMPs in Greece. Law 4784/2021 defines a SUMP based on the definition in the  ELTIS SUMP guidelines.  SUMPs can be developed by Municipalities and they are mandatory for Municipalities with over 30,000 inhabitants,

There are 18 cities with Urban Mobility Plans online with a total population of 1.8 million people. The cities range in size from 10,796 people (Tyrnavos) to 1.0 million people (Thessaloniki). All plans are in Greek and one (Serres) is available in English. Most plans (89%) have been developed in accordance with the EU Guidelines.
