Lithuania is a democratic unitary parliamentary republic covering a total area of 65,300 km2 (25,200 sq mi), with a population of 2.9 million. In 2015, Ministry of Transport and Communications adopted the Guidelines on the Preparation of Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans (SUMP Guidelines). In 2022, the Ministry updated its recommendations concerning the new European Urban Mobility Framework and other relevant European Union and Lithuanian strategy documents. This was renamed as the Guidelines on the Preparation of Sustainable Mobility Plans.
